Twitter shut down the public developer API in 2023.
The Tweeted Times can no longer authenticate users or pull live timelines. The historical archive of newspapers built before the shutdown is still browsable below.

What happened?

In early 2023 Twitter (now X) restricted free API access. The Tweeted Times depended on the public API for timelines, search, and sign-in. None of those work anymore.

What still works

Every newspaper that was generated before the shutdown is still available. Open any featured paper or media outlet to see the frozen content as it was in 2023.

What no longer works

Sign-in with Twitter, creating new newspapers, follow / favorite changes, share-to-Twitter from inside the app, paper-update notifications, and anything else that needed an outbound call to twitter.com.

Why we can't fix it

Twitter's replacement API is closed-tier and priced for enterprise. Reconnecting would require a paid contract; we've preserved the project as a read-only archive instead.
