Posted by Carson Ward If the last few months of ranking changes have shown me anything, it's that poorly executed link building strategy that many of us call white hat can be more dangerous than black-hat strategies like buying links. As a result of well intentioned but short-sighted link building, many sites have seen significant drops in rankings and traffic. Whether you employ link building tactics that are black, white, or any shade of grey, you can do yourself a favor by avoiding the appea...  show all text

Once upon a time, Yahoo was my favorite company – great leadership, oozing investor confidence and innovative products built on cutting-edge technology. However, over the years, Yahoo’s fortunes have dwindled and the company is no longer reminiscent of its golden days. To make matters worse, Yahoo hasn’t been able to find an able leader who can turn its fortunes around. When Yahoo instilled Scott Thomson as its new CEO, there were rumors of employee discontent hitting a new high. As things turn...  show all text

Triberr is a unique content distribution platform. Content creators (bloggers, curators) “feed” content into their tribes, who then share that content via their own social media channels. On the eve of the Facebook IPO, the country's third-biggest advertiser, GM, announced that it was pulling its entire $10 million ad campaign from Facebook because the ads don't work. This was obviously bad news for a company that many people still think will one day be bigger than Google. GM's competitor, Ford, quickly suggested that GM was the problem, not Facebook, by saying that its own Facebook ads work perfectly well. Technology is meant to serve us. Instead it increasingly runs us — and runs us down. Where we put our focus shapes our agenda and defines our experience in every moment. More and more, we're turning over this precious resource to our digital technology, allowing it to define the depth and span of our attention, and to seduce us into operating at such high speeds that we don't notice the insidious toll that's taking.
